Rose Cottage

Rose Cottage is in Houlsyke, which is a small hamlet in the North York Moors. It's a stone cottage, detached. You get your own garden. It's enclosed and looks out over the hills.

The cottage sleeps five. Three bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped. The entrance hall is useful for boots. There's a wood burning stove in the living room, which is nice on cooler evenings.

The kitchen has a dishwasher and a washing machine. There's a highchair and a cot available. Bedding and towels are included. Parking is on site. The entrance is wheelchair accessible, but the rest of the cottage isn't, just so you know.

The nearest village is Lealholm, about two miles away. It has a small shop, a good pub, and a train station. Danby is a similar distance the other way, with pubs, a station, a bakery, and a doctor's surgery. For a bigger shop, Castleton is four miles and has a supermarket open late.

You're right in the North York Moors National Park. For information on walking routes and things to see, North York Moors National Park is the main site. The Moors Centre in Danby is a good starting point, they have a cafe and play areas.

Whitby is about eleven miles away, so within a 30 minute drive. That's where you'll find the beach, the abbey, and most of the shops. For a day out, the English Heritage site for Whitby Abbey has the booking details.

You can bring one well-behaved dog.
