This is the Threshing Barn, in Glaisdale. It's a two bedroom place, sleeps four. It's one of three cottages converted from old farm barns, so the walls are thick stone. They're set around a yard next to our farmhouse.
The main thing is the view. It looks straight out over the valley. It's a proper north Yorkshire view, fields and trees. You get your own patio to sit out on.
Inside, it's open plan downstairs. There's a wood burner, which you'll probably need in the evenings even in summer. The kitchen's got a dishwasher and washing machine. Upstairs are the two bedrooms and a family bathroom with a shower over the bath. The stairs are the original barn stairs, so they're a bit steep and turn a corner.
We're about 500 yards from the village shop. The pub in Glaisdale is three-quarters of a mile down the lane.
You're right in the North York Moors here. You can walk from the door straight onto the moor. For a day out, Whitby is about eight miles. The North York Moors National Park website has good walking routes. The steam railway goes from Grosmont, which is very close. Goathland, which is the Heartbeat village, is a short drive.
There are some shared facilities if you want them. There's an adult games room with a full size snooker table in one of the other barns. There's also an indoor heated swimming pool, a small gym, and a steam room on site. Using those costs extra, it's £35 per person for the week, paid when you're here.
We allow one well-behaved dog. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. All bedding and towels are included. Parking is right outside.
