Benchmark Cottage is in Glaisdale, in the North York Moors. It's a detached stone cottage, built as a stable in 1821. It sleeps two.
It's at the quiet end of the village, opposite the River Esk. You can see the woods from the garden. The garden is south-facing so you get the sun. It's got a couple of patio areas, a lawn, a barbecue, and outdoor furniture. There's parking on site. From the parking, you can either take the stone steps up or walk round the hill to the front door.
The stairs inside are quite steep, just so you know. It's an old building.
You come in through a sunroom. There's a recliner in there. Then there's the kitchen with an Aga. It also has a dishwasher and washing machine. The living area has a corner sofa and a Smart TV. The shower room has a rainforest shower head and a fold-down seat. The bedroom has a double bed and an electric Velux window.
It's got a 4 Star rating. It's well looked after. Bedding and towels are included. There's WiFi and an electric vehicle charger.
The cottage is on Stage 12 of the Coast to Coast walk. Glaisdale has a pub, a shop, a butcher, and a train station. You can get the train to Whitby, which takes about 15 minutes. Driving there takes about the same.
From here, you're right in the North York Moors for walking. The coast at Whitby is close. You can drive to places like Goathland or Robin Hood's Bay within half an hour.
