Benchmark Cottage is in Glaisdale, in the North York Moors. It’s a stone cottage for two people, originally a stable from the 1800s. It’s detached and you get the garden to yourselves.
It’s at the quiet end of the village, opposite the River Esk. The cottage has a four star rating. It’s been done up to a high standard, so things like the kitchen and shower are modern. There’s an Aga for warmth and cooking. The shower has a fold-down seat. The bed is a double under a Velux window.
You have two ways to get to the front door. There’s a parking space at the bottom of the garden, then you either go up some stone steps or walk up the slope. The garden is south-facing with a couple of patio areas and a lawn. There’s a barbecue.
In the village there’s a pub, a post office, a butcher, and a small shop. The train station is a short walk away. The cottage is on Stage 12 of the Coast to Coast walk if that’s your route.
You’re about a 15-minute drive from Whitby. The North York Moors National Park is all around you. It’s good for walking and the coast is close by. The North York Moors National Park site has details on paths and places to visit.
Facilities include parking, WiFi, a washing machine, dishwasher, and TV. There’s a cot and highchair if needed. Bedding and towels are included. There’s an electric vehicle charger. No pets.
