Helena is in Goathland, on the North Yorkshire Moors. It's a big stone house that was built around 1880. We've done it up, but it's not a show home. It's for a group.
It sleeps twelve. Six bedrooms, four bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. There's plenty of space over three floors. The garden is enclosed.
Goathland is the village they used for Aidensfield in 'Heartbeat'. It's a proper moorland village. There are a couple of pubs, tea rooms, and a shop. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway station is right here. You can get the steam train to Whitby or Pickering.
For walking, you can start from the door. The old rail trail to Grosmont along the River Esk is good. You can get the train back. Thomason Foss and Mallyan Spout are local waterfalls. Beckhole Inn is a short walk down the hill.
Whitby is about half an hour's drive. It's got the abbey, the beach, and the harbour. The North York Moors National Park site has walking and cycling routes. Pickering, Helmsley, and Castle Howard are all within a 30 minute drive.
In the house, there's a wood burning stove, a dishwasher, wifi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot, highchair, and stairgate if you need them. Parking for a few cars. There's an electric vehicle charger. We allow up to three dogs.
The stairs are steep in parts. It's an old house.
