Surprise View is in Glaisdale, up on the North York Moors. It's a converted byre, so it's stone-built and attached to our house. You can't see us from your side though. The main thing is the view. It looks straight out over the valley.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both with their own bathrooms. One's a wet room on the ground floor. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. The living space is all open plan.
You've got your own enclosed garden. It's lawned, with a patio area and a BBQ. There's parking right outside.
For facilities, it's got a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. No pets, I'm afraid.
The location is really for walking or cycling. You can step straight out onto the moor. The village shop and pub are about a mile down the lane in Glaisdale.
Whitby is about a 20-minute drive. That's where you'll find the harbour, the abbey, and the big sandy beach. The North York Moors National Park site is useful for walking routes. The steam train from Whitby goes through Grosmont to Pickering, which is a good day out.
Other places within half an hour are Robin Hood's Bay, Staithes, and the market towns like Helmsley. If you're interested in the historic houses, English Heritage Yorkshire has details for places like Whitby Abbey.
