Ivy Cottage is in Beck Hole, which is a really small hamlet just outside Goathland. It's a semi-detached place, built in the 1800s. It's been refurbished inside so it's modern and comfortable, but it's still an old stone cottage. The main thing is the view. You look straight out over the moors and down into the valley where the steam railway runs.
It sleeps eight people. Four bedrooms and three bathrooms. One bedroom is in a separate summerhouse in the garden, which has its own deck. That one can be a double bedroom or just a sitting room, depending on what you need. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's well-equipped and finished to a high standard. Everything is included, like bedding and towels.
The living area is open plan with big bifold doors that open onto the patio. There's a wood burning stove for cooler evenings. The kitchen has a dishwasher and there's a washing machine. There's parking right at the cottage.
You can bring up to two dogs. The garden is enclosed, which is handy for that.
The pub is about a quarter of a mile away. It's one of the smallest in the UK. They serve traditional ales. The nearest shop is in Goathland, about two miles.
For walking, you can just step out the door. The North York Moors National Park starts right there. The steam railway line runs through the valley below the cottage. Whitby is about nine miles away. That's where you'll find the beach, the abbey, and the harbour. The Cleveland Way long-distance path is accessible nearby.
