Ivy Cottage

Ivy Cottage is in Beck Hole. It's a hamlet next to Goathland, up on the North York Moors. The cottage is semi-detached. It's a big old building from the 1800s that's been done up inside.

It sleeps eight people in four bedrooms. There are three bathrooms. One is an en-suite to the main bedroom. The bathrooms have heated mirrors so they don't steam up, which is a nice touch. There's a rain shower and a bath.

The living area is open plan with big bi-fold doors that open onto a patio. The views from there are really something. You're looking straight out over the valley and you can see the steam railway down below. Bedroom four is a bit different. It's like its own little unit with a kitchenette and more bi-fold doors onto a deck. You can use it as a bedroom or just as a summerhouse to sit in. There's also a balcony with seating.

The cottage has a 5 Star rating. It's got things like a washing machine, dishwasher, and WiFi. There are speakers in the ceiling and a big TV. You can bring up to two dogs.

Beck Hole is quiet. There's a very small pub about a quarter of a mile away. It's known for its real ales. The shop is two miles away in Goathland.

You can walk straight from the door. There are loads of footpaths and bridleways. The North York Moors National Park starts right there. You can walk to places like the Falling Foss waterfall. The Cleveland Way national trail is nearby for longer walks along the coast.

Whitby is about nine miles away. That's where you go for the beach, the abbey, and fish and chips. You can get boat trips from there to look for seals. The heritage coast has places like Robin Hood's Bay and Staithes, which are worth a visit. You can walk to Robin Hood's Bay along the old cinder track.

The steam railway runs through the valley. You can get on at Goathland or Grosmont and ride it to Whitby. Goathland is the village they used for Aidensfield in Heartbeat.

Scarborough is down the coast. York is about an hour's drive if you fancy a day out at the Minster or the Railway Museum.
