Ivylea Barn is in Glaisdale, up in the North York Moors. It's a converted barn for two people. There's a private drive and a garden that gets the sun most of the day. You look out onto a field with sheep in it.
It's all on one level inside, which is handy. You come in through a stable door into the kitchen and dining area. There's a big window there with a good view. The living room has a high ceiling with the old sandstone wall exposed. The bedroom has a kingsize bed and an en-suite shower.
It's got a 4 Star rating. That means it's comfortable and well looked after. You've got a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right there.
Glaisdale has a small village shop and a tea room. There are a few decent pubs in the nearby villages for a meal. You're right on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, so walking and cycling routes start from the door.
Whitby is about eleven miles away, so twenty minutes or so by car. That's where you'll find the abbey, the harbour, and plenty of places to eat. The coastal scenery is good all along here. Places like Staithes and Robin Hood's Bay aren't far. Goathland, which is the Heartbeat village, is about twenty minutes away. You can get a steam train from there sometimes.
