Rowan Cottage is in Aislaby village. It's an old quarryman’s cottage, built from the local sandstone. Sleeps four, two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and well looked after, not just basic.
The front garden faces south, so you get the sun. There's a summerhouse at the back that looks over the fields. Inside, there's a wood burner for cooler evenings. The stairs are typical cottage stairs, so they're a bit steep.
The village pub is about 150 yards away. It's family run and does food. The shop is in Sleights, a couple of miles down the road.
You can start walks right from the door. The Esk Valley Walk goes through to Grosmont, where you can get the steam train. The coast is about three miles away. Whitby is a short drive or you can get the bus. It’s got the abbey, the beach, and the usual things.
Scarborough is about 40 minutes south by car. Robin Hood's Bay, Runswick Bay, and Staithes are all along the coast within a 30 minute drive. The North York Moors National Park website is good for walking routes. The National Trust has a lot of the coastal spots.
For facilities: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, Wi-Fi, and a TV. We provide bedding and towels. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. No pets sorry.
