Sea Dog Cottage is in Whitby, on the east side of the river. It's a terrace cottage in a row of old fishermen's cottages. You can walk into the main part of town in about five minutes, or down to the harbour.
It sleeps five in two bedrooms. One double is on the first floor, and there's a second bedroom on the top floor with a double and a single bed under the eaves. There's one proper bathroom inside. The stairs are steep and a bit narrow, because it's an old cottage. They're fine, but watch your head.
There's a small yard at the front with a bench. It gets the sun in the afternoon. At the back, there's an original outhouse with a toilet in it. It works, but most people use the main bathroom inside. There's also a separate utility room with the washing machine.
The living area is open plan. It's got a decent kitchen, a sofa, and a TV. The WiFi is okay. You can see the whalebone arch on the West Cliff from the front bedroom window.
You're a short walk from the beach on the east side. All the shops, cafes, and pubs are close by. The North York Moors National Park starts just outside town. The Cleveland Way coastal path runs right past Whitby if you want a long walk.
Robin Hood's Bay is about a 15-minute drive south. It's good for fossils. For a drive inland, Goathland and Grosmont on the North York Moors Railway are about 20 minutes away.
Facilities: all bedding and towels are included. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, a cot, and parking for one car is included on a nearby street. No pets, sorry.
