The Merry Gull is in Whitby. It's a tall, terraced house on a quiet street about a ten minute walk from the harbour.
It sleeps eight over four floors. There are two king bedrooms and two twin bedrooms. One bathroom is downstairs, with a shower. The other bathroom is on the first floor and has a roll-top bath and a separate shower cubicle. It's a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well kept.
You can park one car off the street at the front. There's a small front garden with a table and chairs. Out the back is a little decked courtyard with a seat for two. It's got fairy lights.
Inside, the rooms are tall with big windows. The stairs are standard for a house like this, so they're a bit steep and winding. The two twin bedrooms are up in the attic. One of them has a skylight you can see Whitby Abbey from. The beds under the eaves are fine for adults, but you do need to mind your head getting in and out.
There's a wood burner in the living room. We leave a fire guard for it. The kitchen is a galley style, but it's got everything: dishwasher, washing machine, a coffee machine. The dining room has a big table for everyone.
There's a local shop, a pub, a butchers, and a fish and chip shop all within a couple of minutes' walk. The beach is about a fifteen minute walk. Whitby itself has all the usual things. The Abbey, the 199 steps, the pier. Good fish and chips.
If you want to explore further, the North York Moors are right there. For a day out, Scarborough is about half an hour's drive along the coast. They've got a castle and the Stephen Joseph Theatre.
Facilities: all bedding and towels are included. There's a cot, a highchair, and a stairgate if you need them. WiFi. No pets sorry.
