Ammonite House is on the west side of Whitby. It's about a ten minute walk down to the harbour and the main part of town. It’s a terraced house, three floors.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, one bathroom. It’s a 4 Star place. It’s comfortable and recently done up.
There’s an open plan living and dining area on the ground floor with a wood burning stove. The kitchen leads out to a decked area with seating. That’s new.
On the first floor there’s a double bedroom with a TV. On the top floor there are two more bedrooms under the eaves. The stairs up to that floor are quite steep, like a ship’s ladder. It says it’s not suitable for children under 8.
You’re well placed for the town. The beach, the harbour, and the 199 steps up to Whitby Abbey are all a walk away. The Abbey is run by English Heritage. For a wider view of the area, the North York Moors National Park site is useful.
The Cleveland Way coastal path runs right past Whitby. You can walk from the door towards Sandsend one way or Robin Hood’s Bay the other.
Within about half an hour’s drive you’ve got Robin Hood’s Bay, Staithes, and the steam trains at Grosmont for the North York Moors Railway. The seaside at Scarborough is about 40 minutes south.
Facilities wise, there’s a washing machine, WiFi, a cot and highchair if needed. Bedding and towels are included. There’s no garden, just the deck. No pets.
