Lambert Hill Cottage

Lambert Hill Cottage is in Ruswarp, a couple of miles outside Whitby. It's a bungalow, which is handy. It used to be a village school back in the 1800s.

It sleeps six. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms. One bathroom has a shower over the bath, the other is just a shower room. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. The garden is enclosed, which is good if you've got a dog or kids. There's also a bit of private woodland walk at the back.

Inside, the kitchen is up a couple of stone steps from the living area. The living room has a fireplace with a woodburning stove. The dining area is raised by another step and looks out towards the river.

The village has the basics. There's a shop, a butcher, and a pub, all within walking distance. There's a small riverside café too, and a miniature steam railway for the kids. The proper station for the Esk Valley Line is close by if you want to get the train into Whitby without parking.

You can walk along the footpath by the railway line into Whitby itself in about 40 minutes. Whitby's got the Abbey, the beach, and all the shops. A bit further along the coast there's Sandsend, Robin Hood's Bay, and Staithes. All good for a day out.

For walking, you're right on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. The heritage steam railway from Whitby to Pickering goes through the middle of it.

Facilities wise, it's all there: parking, WiFi, washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring one well-behaved dog. There's a cot and highchair if you need them.
