It's Horner's Cottage up on the harbour wall. It's not grand, it's a proper Whitby fisherman's cottage. That means the stairs are steep, and the layout is a bit upside down. You come in on the middle floor.
The front door opens into a small room with a bar built into it. It's from the 70s, I think. It's just there. The kitchen is on the first floor up, and the main sitting room is on that floor too. It's got a sofa, an armchair and a table by the window. You get a good view of the harbour from there. The TV and WiFi are there if you need them.
Up another flight of stairs are the two bedrooms. The main one has a big window looking right over the town and the water. The second bedroom has two singles. There's one shower room, it's on the first floor next to the kitchen.
You're right on the harbour. You can see the boatyard opposite. Walk along the path to your left and you're in the old town in five or ten minutes. The beach, the 199 steps up to the abbey, and all the shops are that way. It's four-star rated, which here means it's been modernised where it matters but keeps its character.
It sleeps four. There's a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. No pets. Parking is on-street nearby, or there's a pay and display car park a couple of minutes walk away.
If you're planning trips out, the North York Moors National Park is all around you. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway steam trains run from Whitby to Pickering. For local history, the Whitby Abbey site is run by English Heritage. Robin Hood's Bay is about a fifteen minute drive south.
