Keel Cottage is on the edge of Whitby. It's part of a small holiday development, it's not right in the town. The place is quiet and the views are out over fields towards the moors.
It sleeps six, has three bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well looked after. There's a patio with a picnic bench, gets the sun.
You'll see the steam trains from the North York Moors Railway going past at the bottom of the valley. It's quite a thing to see from the garden. You can walk down and stand under the viaduct.
About 200 yards away is the Cinder Track. That's the old railway line to Scarborough, good for walking or cycling. If you follow it across the viaduct, you can walk into Whitby town centre in about 20 minutes. Whitby has the lot: tea rooms, restaurants, shops, the whole harbour scene. The beach at Sandsend is a couple of miles west.
On the development itself, there's green space, a couple of small playgrounds for kids, and picnic tables. They provide gas barbecues from Easter to October. Parking is right there.
The cottage has WiFi, a washing machine, and bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. No pets, sorry.
If you're driving, Robin Hood's Bay is about six miles away. For a longer trip, the North York Moors National Park is right on the doorstep. The North York Moors Railway station in Grosmont is a short drive away if you want to get on one of those steam trains.
