Gunpowder House is in East Barnby, on the edge of the North York Moors. It’s detached, which means you don’t have anyone next door. It sits a bit up the hill, so you get a good view out over the fields.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms and one bathroom. It’s got a 4 Star rating. It’s comfortable. The garden is enclosed, which is useful if you’ve got a dog or kids. There’s a patio bit too.
You’ve got a wood burner for cooler evenings, and a barbecue out the back. There’s a dishwasher and a washing machine. Towels and bedding are included. We’ve got a cot and a highchair if you need them. WiFi works fine.
The location is the main thing. You’re right in the National Park. You can walk straight out the door onto the bridleways. It’s about two miles down to Sandsend beach, and four miles into Whitby. Whitby’s the proper fishing town with the abbey and everything. The drive to either is easy.
There’s a pub, a shop, and a restaurant about a mile away in Aislaby. They’re perfectly good. If you want to go further, the whole coast is accessible. Scarborough’s about half an hour south, Robin Hood’s Bay is maybe twenty minutes north.
You can take one well-behaved dog. There’s parking right outside.
