Castleton House
This is Castleton House in Staithes. It's a three bedroom cottage, sleeps four. Has one bathroom. You can bring one dog.
It's a Georgian fisherman's cottage, so it's old and listed. It's been done up, but it's not huge. It's got a wood burner in the living room, which is good for cooler evenings. The floors are wood and the doors are chunky pine.
The stairs are standard for a cottage like this, so they're a bit steep.
You get a view of the sea from the upstairs windows. Right behind the cottage there's a bench that looks out over the hillside. There's another spot out the front with benches that gets the morning sun. People sometimes use it to dry their washing, there's a frame there for that.
The village is small. There's a shop about 250 yards away. A pub and a restaurant are even closer, about 100 yards.
Parking isn't at the cottage. You get a permit for the village car park.
It's right on the Cleveland Way, so you can walk straight onto the coastal path. The North York Moors are on the doorstep. Whitby is about 11 miles away, and Sandsend beach is on the way there.
Facilities are what you'd expect: Wi-Fi, TV, a washing machine. Bedding is included. There's a shower.
