Sycamore Cottage
Sycamore Cottage is in Borrowby, up on the hillside above Runswick Bay. It was a cow barn originally. They turned it into a cottage in the seventies and did it up again a few years ago.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom with a walk-in shower. It's a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean but not luxurious. It suits a couple or a small family best. The living area is all open plan.
The main thing is the view. From the terrace you look right down the valley to the sea. You can see Runswick Bay from there.
It's very quiet here. There's no shop or pub in Borrowby itself. You're a couple of miles from the coast, and right in the North York Moors National Park. It's for getting away from things.
For a pub, the nearest is in Roxby, about a five minute drive or a fifteen minute walk. Staithes is about ten minutes by car. That's a proper fishing village with a few shops, pubs, and a chippy. The beach at Runswick Bay is two miles away.
Whitby and Guisborough are both about twenty minutes' drive. Scarborough is an hour. York is about an hour and a half if you fancy a day trip.
Facilities are what you'd expect: WiFi, TV, washing machine, parking. Bedding and towels are included. We've got a cot and highchair if you need them. There's a shower seat available if required, you just have to ask.
