Seaton Cottage

Seaton Cottage is part of Seaton Hall, just outside Staithes. It’s a proper old place, parts of the hall go back nearly a thousand years. You feel a bit of that history staying here.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms. One twin bedroom is on the ground floor, but the access to its ensuite is narrow. It’s fine, just narrow. The other bedroom is a double upstairs. It has the main bathroom.

The living area is open plan, stone walls and beams. It’s not huge, but it’s fine for a small group. There’s a washing machine, dishwasher, and Wi-Fi. Bedding and towels are included.

Out the back there’s a gravelled patio with a table and chairs and a hammock. It catches the afternoon and evening sun.

You can bring one dog.

The village of Staithes is about a mile away. It’s a classic old fishing village, very steep with cobbled streets. There’s a shop, pubs, and a café onsite at the hall which does breakfasts and afternoon tea.

For walking, you can pick up the Cleveland Way along the cliffs. Runswick Bay and Robin Hood’s Bay are lovely for a wander. Whitby is about fifteen minutes by car. You’ve got the Abbey, the old town, and boat trips. Saltburn is a bit further north, good for surfing. The North York Moors Railway runs steam trains from Pickering to Whitby, which is a nice trip.
