Oakridge

Oakridge is in Hinderwell village. It's semi-detached. Sleeps ten, five bedrooms, four bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating, which is more about being spacious and comfortable than it is frilly.

The kitchen is big and has an Aga. Doors from there go out to a patio with a hot tub and a stone barbecue. There's a conservatory that looks onto the garden. The garden is enclosed and there's a quieter bit at the far end if you want to get away from everyone.

One bedroom and a shower room are on the ground floor. The main bedroom upstairs has a spa bath and a separate shower. The landing up there is big, with space to sit and read.

There's a utility room with another shower, which is handy if you've been at the beach or in the hot tub. The stairs are fine, but they're original, so they turn a bit sharp.

You can bring up to three dogs.

Hinderwell has a shop about 50 yards away, and a pub and a restaurant even closer. They're perfectly good. Runswick Bay is about a mile down the road. It's a sandy cove, good for rock pooling.

You're right on the edge of the North York Moors. The Cleveland Way footpath runs through. Staithes is a few minutes drive north, Whitby about fifteen minutes south. Whitby has the usual seaside things, boat trips, and the abbey. The steam train from Pickering to Grosmont goes through the middle of the national park, which is a good day out.

Further along the coast, you've got Robin Hood's Bay, Sandsend, and Saltburn all within half an hour. Scarborough is about forty minutes drive. York is an hour, maybe a bit more depending on traffic.

Facilities: all the bedding and towels are included. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, cot, highchair, and a stairgate. Parking for three cars on the drive.
