Seaton Mote
Seaton Mote is next to Seaton Hall, near Staithes. It's a big cottage, attached to the main hall. You can see part of the old moat from the garden. There are usually ducks there.
It sleeps ten, with five bedrooms and five bathrooms. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and well kept. The living room and kitchen are cosy, so it's better suited for eight adults, even though there are beds for ten. Three bedrooms are upstairs, two are on the ground floor.
The hall itself has a long history. The current owner is restoring it. There's a cafe on the estate you can use, and an antiques barn.
The shop is half a mile away. The pub is about three quarters of a mile. There's a restaurant just over the road, about 100 yards.
Staithes is the nearest village, it's a proper old fishing place with steep streets. The Cleveland Way footpath runs along the clifftops here. Whitby is about 20 minutes by car. It's got the Abbey, the old town, and boat trips. North York Moors National Park is right on the doorstep. You can get to places like Robin Hood's Bay or Runswick Bay in under half an hour. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway is about a 25 minute drive.
Facilities: all bedding and towels are included, there's a washing machine, WiFi, and parking. A cot and highchair are there if you need them. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
You can book it with some other cottages on the estate if you have a bigger group.
