Saltwater Cottage
Saltwater Cottage is in Staithes. It's a one bedroom cottage, sleeps two. It's got a 4 Star rating.
It's on the Cleveland Way footpath. You can walk from the door along the coast. The Cleveland Way site has maps. The path connects to other villages. You can see a bit of sea from the bedroom window.
The living space is open-plan, with a wood burning stove. The kitchen is small but has what you need. There's a breakfast bar with two stools. Upstairs is the bedroom with a king size bed and a modern shower room. The shower has underfloor heating.
Staithes is a fishing village with narrow, cobbled streets. There's a car park at the top of a steep hill. You unload there and walk down to the cottage. It's about a three minute walk. The roads are too narrow for cars where the cottage is.
In the village there are a couple of pubs, the Cod and Lobster and the Captain Cook Inn. Both do food. There are some small shops and a gallery. The North York Moors National Park authority has information on the area.
Whitby is about a twenty minute drive. It has the Abbey, a beach, and the usual shops. Saltburn-by-the-sea is about twenty minutes the other way. It has a pier and people surf there. Runswick Bay and Robin Hood's Bay are also close, within half an hour.
Facilities: WiFi is included. There's a wood burner. Bedding and towels are provided. The entrance is wheelchair accessible, but the village streets are cobbled and the car park is at the top of the hill, so please consider that. No pets.
