Saltwater Cottage is our place in Staithes. It's a one bedroom cottage for two people. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and recently done up.
The cottage is narrow, like most in the village. The living room and kitchen are open plan downstairs. There's a wood burner for cooler evenings. Upstairs is the bedroom with a king size bed and the shower room. You can see a sliver of the sea from the bedroom window.
Staithes is a proper old fishing village. The streets are steep and cobbled. You can't drive right to the door. There's a car park at the top of the hill, then it's a five minute walk down. It’s worth it when you get there.
The Cleveland Way footpath runs past the end of the street. You can walk along the cliff to places like Runswick Bay from there. The village has a couple of pubs, like the Cod and Lobster by the harbour, a few cafes, and some small shops.
Whitby is about a 20 minute drive. You've got the Abbey there and the beach. Saltburn is about 25 minutes the other way if you want to try surfing. Robin Hood's Bay is also close, maybe 15 minutes by car.
For facilities, it's got the wood burner, WiFi, and underfloor heating in the shower room. Bedding and towels are included. There's a highchair and a cot if you need them. It's listed as wheelchair accessible at the entrance.
