Felicity House

Felicity House is in Staithes. It's on the cliff above the village, so you look straight down over the rooftops and out to sea. The Cleveland Way footpath runs right past the front gate.

It sleeps five in three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, which is handy. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and well looked after. It's got original features like the fireplaces, but everything works. The living room has a wood burner.

The stairs inside are worth mentioning. They're the original, steep cottage stairs. They're also a bit narrow in places. Just something to be aware of.

You can walk down into Staithes village from the house. It's about five minutes. It's a proper old fishing village with cobbled streets and cottages packed into a ravine. The Cod and Lobster pub is right on the harbour wall. The shop is good for basics.

For walking, you're set. You can pick up the Cleveland Way from the gate and head towards Whitby one way or Skinningrove the other. The whole coastline is dramatic. Whitby is about eight miles by road, so 20 minutes in the car. It's got the Abbey, the Dracula connection, and all the fish and chips you could want.

You're inside the North York Moors National Park, so the moors are on your doorstep too. Go inland for heather and quiet valleys.

Facilities wise: there's a dishwasher, washing machine, TV, enclosed garden, and parking for one car on the drive. Bedding and towels are included. We take up to two well-behaved dogs. The entrance is level and there's a shower, so it suits people with some mobility needs, but the internal stairs mean it's not suitable for wheelchair users throughout.
