Felicity House is in Staithes, up near the top of the village. It looks out over the rooftops towards the sea. The Cleveland Way runs right past the front door, so if you're walking that, you couldn't be much better placed.
It sleeps five. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, which is handy. It's got a 4 Star rating. We've done it up, kept the old features where we could. The living room has a wood burner. It works well.
The village is down the hill. It's about a five minute walk. The path is steep in places, that's just Staithes. There's a pub about 200 yards away, The Cod and Lobster, right by the harbour. They do food. There's a shop for basics. The beach is a few minutes' walk down.
Whitby is about eight miles down the coast. You can walk it along the cliff path if you're feeling energetic. It's famous for the abbey and the Dracula connection. Robin Hood's Bay is a bit further south, maybe a twenty minute drive.
The whole area is part of the North York Moors National Park. Great for walking. The coastline is rugged, good for fossil hunting on the beach. The village itself has that old fishing port feel, narrow streets and cottages.
For facilities, there's a washing machine, dishwasher, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's an enclosed patio garden out the back with a table, and parking for one car on the drive. We allow up to two well-behaved dogs.
If you're planning days out, the English Heritage site for Whitby Abbey has the practical information.
