Fern House is in Hinderwell, a village inland from the coast in North Yorkshire. It's a terraced house, but it's tall, over three floors. It sleeps eight, in four bedrooms. There are two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's well looked after.
You park on the street out front. The front door opens into the living room. There's a wood burner in there. The kitchen is a good size, with a dishwasher and a washing machine. The dining table is in there too. Doors lead out to a small, enclosed patio garden. It gets the afternoon sun.
Upstairs, there are four double bedrooms and a family bathroom. The stairs are fine, but they're the steep, narrow kind you get in old houses. Just take your time.
In the village, there's a pub, a little café, and a fish and chip shop. All are a short walk away.
For the coast, Runswick Bay is about a 30-minute walk away, maybe a bit longer. It's a nice sandy beach. Staithes is a few minutes drive north. It's a small fishing village with steep streets. Whitby is about 15 minutes south by car. It's a proper working town with the Abbey, plenty of shops, and boat trips. The North York Moors National Park starts just inland. Good for walking.
The facilities are all listed. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. There's WiFi and a TV. No pets, sorry.
If you're planning walks, the Cleveland Way footpath runs along the cliffs nearby. For general local information, Visit Whitby is useful.
