Drake Lodge is in Staithes. It's a detached, single-storey lodge, so it's all on one level. You've got your own parking space right outside.
It's for two people. One bedroom, one ensuite shower room. The living area is open-plan with the kitchen. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's well equipped and comfortable.
The lodge is at the bottom of Bank Top Road, so it's a very steep walk back up from the village. If you're not keen on hills, you'll want to drive up. It's in a quiet spot next to the beck. There's a small waterfall there.
You get a little enclosed courtyard. It's not a big garden, but it's your own space.
Staithes is a proper fishing village. Cobbled streets, old houses, the harbour. It's good for a wander. There's a shop, a few pubs, and some tea rooms. The beach is sandy but it's a mix with rocks, so watch your step. The lifeboat station is still active.
For walking, you're on the Cleveland Way. It's right there. Robin Hood's Bay is along the coast. Whitby is about ten miles away. That's where the Abbey is and you can get fish and chips.
If you head inland, you're in the North York Moors National Park. Good for walks and drives. The steam railway goes from Pickering.
Facilities: it's all included. Bedding, towels, TV, washing machine. One well-behaved dog is allowed. The courtyard is enclosed.
