The cottage is called Sir Francis Bigod. It's part of Seaton Hall, just outside Staithes. The hall's an old manor house that's being restored. There's a cafe and bistro on site run by the owners, which is handy.
It's a two-bedroom place sleeping four. Two bathrooms, both en-suite, one for each bedroom. One double and one twin room. It's got a 4 Star rating. You can bring one dog.
Inside, there's a living room with a wood burner, and a separate kitchen with a dining area. The kitchen is handcrafted. It faces onto a patio and the estate grounds, with views out to the moors. It's quiet out here.
Staithes village is about a mile away. It's a proper old fishing village, steep and cobbled. There's a shop about half a mile away, a pub less than a mile, and the on-site restaurant is about 100 yards from the cottage.
You're right on the edge of the North York Moors. The Cleveland Way path is nearby for walking. Coastal spots like Runswick Bay and Robin Hood's Bay are a short drive. Whitby is about nine miles. It's got the abbey, boat trips, and an old town. Saltburn-by-the-Sea, with its pier, is good for surfing.
The North Yorkshire Moors Railway steam train runs from Pickering to Whitby. For a big day out, Flamingo Land theme park is within about an hour's drive.
Facilities include a dishwasher, washing machine, TV, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if needed. Parking is on site.
