Lady De Seton

Lady De Seton is part of Seaton Hall, near Staithes. It's one of a few cottages in the old hall. The building is very old, which means the walls are thick stone and the ceilings are beamed. It feels solid.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. The main bedroom is downstairs with its own shower. The twin room is upstairs under the eaves. The bathroom is on the ground floor and you can get to it from the corridor as well as from the bedroom, if that makes sense. It's got a 4 Star rating.

The living area is open plan, with the kitchen at one end. The kitchen is nice, it was made specially for the place. There's a wood burning stove in the main room. The floors are stone, so it can be cool underfoot.

You're about a mile from the beach at Staithes. The village itself is a proper old fishing spot, with the cottages packed into the gorge. There's a cafe and bistro on the estate, about 100 yards away, which is open most days.

For walking, the Cleveland Way runs right along the cliff tops. You can walk to Runswick Bay from here. Whitby is about seven miles south. The Abbey is there, and the old town. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway runs from there too, if you like steam trains.

Saltburn is up the coast, about ten miles. It's got a long pier and people surf there. The North York Moors are inland if you want proper heather and wide views.

Facilities: there's a dishwasher, washing machine, TV, wifi, and parking right outside. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. No pets.
