Jet Workers Cottage
Jet Workers Cottage is on Haggersgate, a few yards up from Church Street. It's tucked down a small yard, but it's very central. You can see the abbey from the top bedroom window.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It gets the 4 Star rating. It's clean and recently done up, but it's over 200 years old, so mind your head on the eaves in the upstairs twin room. The stairs are quite steep and narrow, which is normal for these yards. The living area is all open plan, so it's one room for kitchen, dining and sofa.
You're right in the middle of Whitby. The shops, the harbour, and the beach are about a minute's walk. There are plenty of pubs and places to eat on the doorstep. The yard itself is historic. It used to have a jet workshop and a photographer's studio.
The Cleveland Way long-distance path runs along the cliff top above the town. You can be on it in ten minutes. The North York Moors are right there. For a day out, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway steam train goes from Whitby to Pickering. The coast north and south is good for walking. Robin Hood's Bay is about six miles south, Staithes is about nine miles north.
Facilities: WiFi, bedding and towels included, there's a stairgate. The entrance is level, but the cottage is over three floors inside so it's not suitable for wheelchair users beyond the ground floor. No pets.
