Jet Workers Cottage

Jet Workers Cottage is in Whitby, in a yard off one of the streets near the harbour. It's a small old cottage, one of several in the row. You can walk into the centre of town in about a minute.

It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom with a shower over the bath. It's a 4 Star place, so it's clean and comfortable. It's on three floors though, and the stairs are the original cottage stairs, so they're steep and a bit narrow. The two single beds are up in the eaves.

The yard used to have a jet workshop in it. The photographer Frank Sutcliffe had his studio here too.

It's a straightforward base. There's a small kitchen area and a corner sofa in the main room. You get Wi-Fi and all the bedding and towels. There's a stairgate for little ones. The entrance on the ground floor is wheelchair accessible, but the rest of the cottage isn't because of the stairs.

From the door, you're right at the shops, pubs, and the harbour. The beach is a few minutes' walk. The town gets busy sometimes, especially during the festival weekends like the Goth Weekends.

If you drive, Robin Hood's Bay is about ten minutes away. Sandsend is about five minutes. Staithes is around twenty minutes. The North York Moors National Park is right on the doorstep. You can get the steam train from Whitby to Pickering, which goes through Goathland.

For planning walks, the Cleveland Way National Trail site is useful.
