Maybeck Cottage

Maybeck Cottage is on a quiet lane just outside Ruswarp. It's a one-bedroom, ground-floor cottage for two. I've kept it simple. The open-plan living area has a wood burner, which is good in winter.

The 4 Star rating means it's comfortable and clean. It's wheelchair accessible and all on one level. There's a sofa bed in the living room if you need to bring a small child.

You share a big, open greenspace with a few other converted farm cottages. There are picnic benches. The view looks right across the valley to Whitby, you can see the abbey on the cliff. It's very peaceful.

Ruswarp village is about a fifteen-minute walk. There's a pub and a shop. You can hire a rowing boat on the River Esk there. Sometimes you see seals come up the river.

Whitby is three miles away. You can drive, walk, or get the steam train from Ruswarp station. The North York Moors Railway goes to Pickering through the moorland, which is a good day out. In Whitby, the harbour has fishing trips and good fish restaurants. The abbey is up the 199 steps.

You're on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. Robin Hood's Bay is about a fifteen-minute drive. Staithes is a bit further. For walking, Falling Foss is close by, and Dalby Forest is about half an hour's drive.

Facilities: There's parking, a patio area, WiFi, TV, and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. I can provide a cot. No pets.
