This is Maybeck Cottage. It's on a small country lane in Ruswarp, which is about three miles from Whitby. The cottage is all on the ground floor. It sleeps two in the bedroom, and there's a double sofa bed in the living room for young children.
It's a 4 Star place. That means it's well put together and comfortable. Everything's on one level, which is handy. There's a patio with a table outside.
The site used to be a farm. There are a few other holiday cottages here. They all share a big open green area that looks out over the valley towards Whitby. You can see the abbey from there. There are picnic benches.
Ruswarp village is a short walk away. There's a pub. You can hire a rowing boat on the River Esk. Sometimes you see salmon, or even a seal that comes up the river.
Whitby is three miles off. You can drive, walk, or get the steam train from Ruswarp station. The train goes to Pickering through the moors, which is a good trip. Whitby has the harbour, the abbey, fish restaurants, and boat trips.
Within about half an hour's drive you've got Robin Hood's Bay, Staithes, and Sandsend for the coast. The North York Moors are right there for walking. Falling Foss waterfall and Dalby Forest are close by for woodland.
Facilities: there's parking, WiFi, a TV, a washing machine, and bedding and towels are included. A cot is available if you need one. No pets, sorry.
