Oakwood

Oakwood is in Sleights, near Whitby. It's a tall Victorian house. It sleeps eight, in four bedrooms. There are two bathrooms. You can bring one dog.

It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's been done up to a high standard. It's comfortable. You've got the main living room with a woodburner, a modern kitchen with big windows, and a dining area. Some of the chairs are old church pews. They're solid.

Outside there's a patio with a table and chairs. The view is good, over fields and the valley.

The stairs are normal for a house this age. They're a bit steep and turn a corner. The ceilings are high.

Sleights village has what you need: a pub, a shop, a butchers, a bakery, and a fish and chip shop. The next village, Ruswarp, is just down the road. You can hire kayaks or paddleboards there to go on the river.

Whitby is about ten minutes' drive. That's where the harbour, the beach, and the abbey are. The famous 199 steps are there too. If you want to go along the coast, Robin Hood's Bay and Sandsend are close. Scarborough is about 40 minutes if you fancy the bigger seaside stuff.

You're right on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, so walking and cycling from the door is easy. The National Trust looks after a lot of the coastline nearby.

Facilities: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot if you need one. Parking is on the street outside the house.
