Harbour Retreat is in Whitby, north of the harbour. It's handy for the old town but you get off-road parking, which is a real plus in Whitby.
The house sleeps four in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom upstairs with a shower over the bath. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well looked after.
We get a lot of sun in the back garden in the afternoon. It's enclosed, which is good if you have a dog. There's a deck up at the top which looks down over the harbour. You can see the Abbey from there.
The living area is all open plan downstairs. There's a gas stove for cooler evenings. The kitchen has a dishwasher and a washing machine. All the bedding and towels are included.
The nearest pub and a fish and chip shop are about five minutes' walk away. The old town, the piers and the beaches are about a ten minute walk. The Abbey is up the steps from there.
If you want to go further, the North York Moors are right on the doorstep. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway steam trains run from Whitby to Pickering. Staithes, Robin Hood's Bay and Sandsend are all along the coast within about half an hour's drive.
Dogs are welcome. One well-behaved dog, please. Most of the local beaches have dog-friendly sections and a lot of the cafes allow dogs too.
