Rosie's Retreat is a town house on Bagdale, which is just up the hill from the harbour in Whitby. It's Grade II listed, so the walls are thick and the windows are deep. You get an enclosed terrace garden out the back. It gets the sun in the afternoon.
The house sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both with their own bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's been done up well inside, so it feels more modern than you might expect from the outside.
You're about two minutes' walk from the bottom of the 199 steps up to the Abbey. The town centre and the piers are right there. It's a historic fishing port, so it's always busy. There are a lot of fish and chip shops. The best ones usually have a queue.
For walking, you've got the Cleveland Way coastal path right there. You can walk to Sandsend along the beach if the tide's out, or along the clifftop path. Robin Hood's Bay is a few miles south. The North York Moors are inland. The steam railway from Pickering to Grosmont is about a 20 minute drive away, and it's a good day out.
In terms of facilities, it's all there. Washing machine, WiFi, towels and bedding are included. It says luxury property, which means the finish is good. You can bring two dogs. There's parking for one car on the drive.
