Herring Cottage
Herring Cottage is in Whitby. It's on Bagdale, down a historic yard. You get to it by going down two sets of steps.
It's a 4 Star cottage that sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's on three floors. The main bedroom and shower room are on the lower ground floor. The twin bedroom is up on the top floor. The stairs up to that top bedroom are steep. They're old cottage stairs.
The kitchen is small but it's got what you need, including a dishwasher. There's a washing machine too. Bedding and towels are included. We can put a cot in if you need one.
You're a short walk from the swing bridge, maybe ten minutes. There are coffee shops, pubs and places to eat about 200 yards away. The beach and the 199 steps up to the abbey are a bit further, but still walkable.
The Cleveland Way coastal path is right there if you want to walk. You can follow the Cinder Track to Robin Hood's Bay. The North York Moors National Park is on the doorstep. The steam trains from Whitby go into the park.
Scarborough is about a 30 minute drive south. They've got the Sea Life Centre, a waterpark, and the usual seaside things. York is about an hour's drive inland for a day out.
