Herring Cottage

Herring Cottage is in Whitby, down a yard off Bagdale. It's old, built as an outbuilding for the Manor House originally. You get to it via two sets of steps.

It sleeps four in two bedrooms. One king size downstairs and twin beds up in the attic. There's one shower room. The attic stairs are steep, because it's a cottage. You should know that.

The living area is open plan on the ground floor. There's a corner sofa, a dining table, and a small kitchen. It has a dishwasher and a washing machine. We include the bedding and towels. There's a cot if you need it. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and kept clean.

You're a short walk from everything. Coffee shops, pubs, restaurants, and the swing bridge are less than ten minutes away. The beach is about a fifteen minute walk. It stretches all the way to Sandsend, good for rock pooling. The 199 steps up to the Abbey are on the other side of the harbour.

You can walk the Cleveland Way along the coast. The Cinder Track goes to Robin Hood's Bay. Boat trips run from the harbour, sometimes you see seals.

Scarborough is about a half hour drive south. It's got the usual seaside things, a Sea Life Centre and two bays. The North York Moors are on the doorstep. For a day out, York is about an hour and a half away by car.

No pets, I'm afraid.
