Captains House is in Whitby. It's a modern townhouse. You walk out of your door and you're in the middle of things, but it's quiet where it is.
It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, three bathrooms. Two of the bedrooms have their own shower rooms. It's got a 4 Star rating, so everything's in good order. The stairs are fine.
The kitchen and dining area are open plan. You can see the river from there, and the steam train from the station. The living room is separate, with a big leather sofa. The garden is a good size, it gets the sun, and you can see the train go by from there too.
There's a shop about 250 yards away and a pub maybe 200. Both are handy. The pub does food.
For walking, you don't really need to drive. You can walk along the river Esk, or get straight onto the Cinder Track. That's the old railway line to Scarborough, it goes right past Robin Hood's Bay. There's a playground for kids just in front of the house.
Whitby itself is famous for the Abbey and the 199 steps. The old town has the cobbled streets and good fish and chips. The beach is about half a mile away.
If you drive, Robin Hood's Bay is about ten minutes. Staithes and Runswick Bay are a bit further, maybe twenty minutes. Scarborough is about forty minutes south. The North York Moors National Park starts just outside town. You can get the steam train from Whitby station right into the middle of it. Goathland station is the one they used in Heartbeat.
Facilities wise: there's parking, a washing machine, a dishwasher, WiFi, and a cot and highchair if you need them. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs.
