Darton Cottage
Darton Cottage is in Whitby. It's a three-floor townhouse, so there are a fair few stairs. They're normal house stairs, not too steep.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, one shower room. Two doubles on the first floor and twins up in the attic room. That top room has a TV and a games console. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and well-equipped.
The lounge has a gas stove. The kitchen is at the back with a table for six. There's a south-facing terrace at the front, which gets the sun. Out the back is an enclosed yard with two outbuildings. One's for the washing machine, the other you can use for bikes or surfboards.
You're about a ten minute walk from the harbour and the town centre. All the shops, pubs, and restaurants are there. Pannett Park and the museum are just around the corner.
The North York Moors National Park starts not far from town. There's good walking straight from the door. The Cinder Track, which is an old railway line, is close by. It's good for walking or cycling to Robin Hood's Bay.
You can get the steam train from Whitby over the moors to Pickering. It's run by the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Within about half an hour's drive you've got Robin Hood's Bay, Staithes, and Sandsend for the beach. For a day out slightly further, Scarborough is down the coast.
