Bernie's Watch

Bernie's Watch is in Whitby. It's a modern house on a quiet development, so you get off-street parking right outside. The garden is enclosed, which is good if you've got dogs or kids.

It sleeps six, three bedrooms and two bathrooms, so it works for three couples. One bedroom is up on the second floor. It has twin beds that zip together to make a super king if you prefer. The stairs up there are fine, just normal house stairs.

The kitchen is well equipped, it even has an air fryer and a mixer. Doors open out to the garden, which has a BBQ. There's a lockable shed for bikes or muddy boots.

Out the back, there's a bit of a green and you're right next to the Cinder Track. It's the old railway line that goes along the coast to Robin Hood's Bay and Scarborough. Good for walking or cycling. The cliff path and the beach are a short walk away.

Whitby town centre is about half a mile for shops and pubs. You know what it's like, the old part by the harbour hasn't changed much. You can get boat trips, see the whalebone arch, eat fish and chips. The Dracula connection brings a lot of people, especially for the Goth weekends.

Within half an hour you can be on the North York Moors for walking. The North York Moors National Park website has good information. Robin Hood's Bay is down the coast. Scarborough is about a 40 minute drive. The National Trust looks after a few properties nearby too, like Nunnington Hall.

Facilities are all included: bedding, towels, WiFi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and modern. You can bring up to two dogs. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them.
