Seasider
This is Seasider. It's an apartment in a big old hotel called The Metropole, right on the cliff top in Whitby. You can see it from a good way off.
It's on the third floor. There's a lift, or you can use the main staircase which is grand but also a bit of a climb. The apartment sleeps two. One bedroom with a double bed, one bathroom with a bath and a shower over it. It's got a 3 Star rating. It's clean and comfortable and has most things you need, but it's not a luxury finish. The view from the living room looks out over the town and the moors behind it.
You're basically at the top of the town. The whalebone arch and the harbour are a short walk downhill. The beach is straight down the cliff path from the front of the building. It's sand, and it goes on for miles.
Everything in Whitby is walkable from here. The 199 steps up to the Abbey are close by. There's a pub and a Chinese restaurant on the ground floor of the building itself. The football stadium is nearby, which is where Whitby Town play.
For days out, you've got the whole North York Moors National Park on the doorstep. Robin Hood's Bay is about a 15 minute drive south. Scarborough is about 45 minutes down the coast. The steam railway at Pickering is roughly half an hour's drive inland.
Facilities wise: TV, bedding and towels are included. There's a washing machine. One well-behaved dog is allowed. There's a surf school on the beach below if you fancy that.
