Bailey's Retreat

Bailey's Retreat is an apartment in Sneaton Hall, which is a big old manor house that's been converted. It's on the first floor, so there's a staircase up from the main entrance hall to get to it.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom with a shower, and the main bedroom has its own bathroom with a freestanding bath. The bath has a handheld shower head, but there's no shower screen. The main room is open plan, with the kitchen, dining and living area all together. The window looks out over fields and you can see the sea in the distance. There's parking right outside.

The village is quiet. There's a pub about 200 yards away that does food. Beacon Farm is nearby, they do ice cream and have events sometimes. It's good for dogs, we take two. A lot of the local walks and pubs are dog friendly.

You can walk from here into Ruswarp along the river. That takes about 20 minutes. From there, you can follow the old railway line into Whitby, which is another half hour or so. Ruswarp has kayak hire and a little steam train.

Whitby is about three miles away, so a quick drive. Everything is there: the abbey, fish and chips, shops. The coast both north and south of Whitby is good. Sandsend, Robin Hood's Bay, Staithes. All within a 20 minute drive.

For walking, the Cleveland Way and the Cinder Track are accessible from here. Dalby Forest and the North York Moors are about a 30 minute drive inland.

Included in the price: all utilities, bedding, towels, WiFi, and the TV licence. There's a washing machine. On site parking. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and well looked after.

A couple of links if you're planning: North York Moors National Park and for the coast path, Cleveland Way National Trail.
