Fern Lea
Fern Lea is in Sleights, just outside Whitby. It's a big Edwardian villa, semi-detached. The main thing is the view over the Esk Valley, it's really good. You get the whole garden to yourselves, it's enclosed.
It sleeps ten people. Five bedrooms, three bathrooms. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. It's a proper family house, good for a big group or a special occasion. Because it's an old house, some of the ceilings are quite high and the doors are tall. The stairs are normal.
You can walk into Sleights village in a few minutes. There's a shop about 500 yards away, and a pub and a restaurant even closer. Whitby is about four miles down the road. That's where you'll find the beach, the harbour, the abbey, and all the shops.
For a day out, you can drive to Goathland in about fifteen minutes. That's the Heartbeat village. You can get on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway steam train there. Pickering is at the other end of the line.
Walking is easy. You can just step out the door and onto the moor paths. Ruswarp is walking distance too, along the river. They've got a miniature railway and boat hire there.
Further afield, Scarborough is about forty minutes south. York is roughly an hour's drive. The North York Moors National Park website has good information for planning walks.
Facilities: it has pretty much everything. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot, a highchair, and a stairgate if you need them. You can bring up to two dogs. There's a BBQ and bike storage. It's decorated for Christmas if you book over the festive period.
