Rose Cottage 1

This is Rose Cottage 1. It's in Sneaton, which is a quiet spot just inland from Whitby. It's a stone terraced cottage, attached to the one next door. Over two hundred years old, so you get the thick walls and low beams you'd expect.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. The garden is a decent size, mostly lawn, so it's good if you've got a dog. There's a patio with a barbecue.

The stairs are steep. They're original to the cottage. You'll need to mind your head on the beams upstairs.

The shop is a minute's walk away. The pub, which does food, is about the same. It's a proper local. Whitby is about three miles, so a five or ten minute drive. You've got the harbour, the abbey ruins, and all the shops there. Robin Hood's Bay is about six miles south.

You're right on the edge of the North York Moors. For walking, you can head onto the moors or pick up the Cleveland Way coastal path. The North York Moors National Park site has good maps. The National Trust looks after bits of the coast nearby too.

Inside, it's open plan downstairs. There's a wood burner, which is nice in the cooler months. We include the bedding and towels. There's a washing machine, a cot, and a highchair if you need them. Parking is on the drive. We take one well-behaved dog.

You can book it together with Rose Cottage 2 next door if you're a bigger group.
