Gable End Cottage
Gable End Cottage is on our farm in Goathland. It's a two-bedroom cottage, sleeps four. It's got a 4 Star rating. The building is old, but we've done it up inside.
Downstairs is one open room. We took a wall out so it feels brighter. There's a wood burner for cool evenings. The stairs are new and easier than they were, but they're still cottage stairs.
There are two bedrooms. One has a kingsize bed. The other one has two single beds that can be zip-linked into a super kingsize if you ask us beforehand. The bathroom has a bath with a shower over it.
The cottage looks out over the fields where our sheep are. You get a small enclosed garden to yourselves. We allow up to two dogs. There's parking right outside.
It's about half a mile to the village. There's a pub and a shop there. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway station is in Goathland too, which is handy.
You're right on the edge of the moors for walking. Whitby is about nine miles away, so about a twenty minute drive. Pickering is under ten miles the other way. York is roughly an hour's drive if you fancy a day out in the city.
For local information, the North York Moors National Park website is useful. We also keep a folder in the cottage with our own suggestions for things to do.
Facilities include WiFi, a dishwasher, a washing machine, a cot and highchair. Bedding and towels are included.
We have another cottage next door called Tilly's Cottage. You can book both together if you're a larger group.
