Tilly's Cottage is on our farm just outside Goathland village. It's a proper old farmworker's cottage from the 1860s. You get the peace of being here on the farm, but the pub and shop are about a mile and a half down the road.
It sleeps six, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. The beams are low in the kitchen, and the stairs are steep in places, like you'd expect. The open fire works, we leave wood for it. There's WiFi, a TV, a washing machine, and a dishwasher.
You're welcome to bring two dogs. The garden is yours, and there's a barbecue. We're a working sheep farm, so you'll see the flock about.
Being a mile out, you're straight onto the moor for walks. The North York Moors Railway steam train passes right by one of our fields. You can walk into Goathland to catch it to Pickering or Whitby. Whitby's about a 25 minute drive for the harbour, the Abbey, and fish and chips.
For more detailed walks or days out, the North York Moors National Park site is useful. The National Trust for Yorkshire covers places like the coast too.
