Ingleby Barn

Ingleby Barn is ours. It's on the farm here in Battersby, up in the North York Moors. You drive for about two miles off the main road to get here, down a proper farm track. It's a working farm, so there are sheep and cattle in the fields. It's quiet.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms, which is handy. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's a converted stone barn, so the ceilings are high and beamed. There's a wood burning stove in the living area. The floors downstairs are original stone, so they're a bit uneven in places. It's full of character.

The garden is yours to use. There's a beck at the bottom of it, so mind children if you've got them. The views are all across the valley. You can walk straight out from the door onto the moor. The Cleveland Way is close by.

For shops, you'll need to drive. The nearest proper one is about three miles. There's a pub six miles away, and a restaurant at eight miles. You're a bit out on your own up here, which is the point.

Whitby is about a 30 minute drive. That's where you go for the beach, the harbour, and the steam train for the North York Moors Railway. The coastal villages like Staithes and Runswick Bay are in that direction too, within about 40 minutes. Castle Howard and Rievaulx Abbey are good for a day out if you like history, both within an hour.

In terms of what's here: parking is right outside. There's a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. We've got a cot and a highchair if you need them. The WiFi works, but it's satellite so it's not super fast. You can bring one dog. There's a games room in one of the other barns on site that guests can use.
