Westerdale Barn is in Battersby, in a valley on the North York Moors. It's on the site of an old abbey, though there's not much left of it. It's on a working farm with sheep and cattle.
The barn sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. It feels spacious inside, with wooden floors and a wood burning stove. The windows have good views over the fields.
It's detached, so no neighbours on the other side of the wall. There's a games room in an outbuilding. The garden is enclosed, which is handy if you're bringing a dog. You get one pet allowed.
You're right in the North York Moors National Park. Footpaths start from the gate, so you can walk for miles without using the car.
For shops or a pub, you need to drive. The nearest shop is about three miles, in Castleton. The nearest pub is about six.
Whitby is about a half hour drive. It's got the harbour, the Abbey, and fish and chips. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway steam trains run from Pickering up to Grosmont, which is a good day out.
The coast is all within reach. Staithes, Runswick Bay, and Sandsend are nice for a beach walk.
Facilities: there's parking, WiFi, a washing machine, a cot and highchair if needed. Bedding and towels are included. There's a BBQ outside.
