Warren Farmhouse

Warren Farmhouse is up on the Kildale Estate, near the top of North Yorkshire. It's a proper old place, 1780 I think. It's detached and you've got the garden to yourselves.

It sleeps ten. Five bedrooms, five bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. They've done it up well, so it's comfortable but it's still a farmhouse. There are log fires, beams, and an Aga in the kitchen. The stairs are typical for a house this age.

It's remote. You're a good four or five miles from a shop or a pub. The road up can get tricky in bad winter weather, especially if it snows. Suits you if you like being well away from everything.

The views are the main thing. Straight out over fields and heather moorland. You'll see lapwings and curlews. The moors start right outside the gate.

Kildale station is about a mile down the lane. It's on the Esk Valley line to Whitby, through Goathland. You can get a steam train on it sometimes. Stokesley is the nearest proper town, about a twenty minute drive. It's got pubs and shops.

The coast is about a forty minute drive. Whitby, Saltburn, that way. For historic houses, you've got Castle Howard and Rievaulx Abbey within an hour.

Facilities: it's got the Aga, log burners, dishwasher, washing machine, wifi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. Parking for a few cars. You can bring two dogs.
