Baysdale Abbey is a big stone farmhouse up in the moors near Battersby. It's on the site of an old abbey, but you can't see much of that now. It's on a working farm with sheep and cattle. The place sleeps 18, in eight bedrooms. There are five bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating.
You get the whole main house to yourselves. It's spacious. The original wooden floors are downstairs. There are open fires. The garden is big and natural, with a little fenced stream running along the edge.
There are three other barns you can book with it if you need space for more people, up to 31 total. Those are separate buildings, but all on the same site. They're old, Grade II listed, with beams and wood burners.
It's quite remote. You drive about two miles off the main road to get there. The nearest shop is three miles away. The nearest pub is six miles, and a restaurant is eight miles. You need to plan your groceries.
For walking, you just step out the door. Footpaths go straight into the North York Moors. The coast is about a 45 minute drive. Whitby has the harbour and the steam train. Staithes, Runswick Bay, and Sandsend are all within about half an hour's drive too.
Inside, you've got a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking. They allow one dog. There's a cot and highchair if needed.
