Stable Cottage is in Thorgill, which is part of Rosedale on the North York Moors. It's a converted stone stable. You're up on the side of the valley, so the views are the main thing. You look straight out over the moorland.
It sleeps five. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. One bedroom has an en-suite and a super king bed. There's a twin and a single room. The stairs are a standard staircase, not too steep.
Downstairs is all open plan. The living area has two sofas and a wood burner. The kitchen is a good size. Through a door there's a utility room with the washing machine. Outside, there's a private patio with a hot tub. Beyond that, there's a big open paddock you can use.
You can take two dogs. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right there.
The village of Rosedale Abbey is about a mile and a half down the road. It has a couple of pubs, a shop, and some cafes. The Old Ironstone Railway path goes right around the valley. It's a good, flat walk. You can join it from the cottage.
For cycling, the Yorkshire Cycle Hub at Fryup hires out bikes and does good food. Dalby Forest is about a 20-minute drive. They've got marked trails, bike hire, and a Go Ape. Pickering is about half an hour. That's where you get the North Yorkshire Moors Railway steam trains to Whitby.
The coast is roughly 30 minutes by car. Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay, and Scarborough are all in that range. Castle Howard is about 45 minutes drive if you want a big stately home.
