Taylor's Cottage is in Whitby, right near the harbour. It's a proper old one, dates from 1640. You can hear the seagulls.
It's small but it sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and has everything you need. The kitchen and living area are all one room downstairs. There's WiFi and a TV. Bedding and towels are included, and there's a washing machine.
Because it's so old, there are a few things to know. There are some stone steps up through the shared yard to get to the front door. They're not terrible, but you notice them with bags. The stairs inside are winding and a bit steep. The second bedroom is up in the attic, it's a twin room with its own toilet and sink.
You can bring two dogs. There's a shared yard out the back which is handy for them, and an outdoor store for bikes or wetsuits.
You're very close to everything. The beach is about a minute's walk. Shops, pubs, and restaurants are all within a few hundred yards. The nearest pub is about 30 seconds away.
If you want to get out, you can walk the Cleveland Way along the cliffs to Robin Hood's Bay. The North York Moors are right there. You can catch a steam train on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway from Whitby. For local walks and history, the North York Moors National Park site is useful.
