Hidden Treasure is a ground-floor studio apartment in Whitby. It's called that because the owners named it, not as a sales pitch. It's just a straightforward place for two people.
It's a 4 Star place, which in this case means it's well put together and clean. It’s open-plan, so the bed is in the same room as the sitting area and kitchenette. There's one bathroom with a shower. It works fine as a base.
You're right in the middle of Whitby. You can step out the door and be on the cobbled streets. The harbour, the shops, and the Abbey are all a short walk. For fish and chips, you've got plenty of choice nearby. The beach is sand and shingle, about a ten-minute walk.
The stairs up to the Abbey are steep. Just so you know. Everyone ends up doing them at least once.
If you want to drive out, Robin Hood's Bay is about ten minutes that way. It's all narrow lanes and has a small beach. The North York Moors start pretty much at the edge of town. The North York Moors National Park website is good for walking routes. The Cleveland Way path goes right through Whitby if you fancy a coastal walk.
Facilities wise: there's on-site parking, which is a real help in Whitby. WiFi, TV, bedding and towels are included. It has a woodburning stove for colder nights. No pets.
