The Granary is in Newholm, which is just outside Whitby. It's a converted barn, one of four in a row next to our farmhouse. It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms.
It's got a 4 Star rating. It's clean and well looked after. Downstairs is all open plan: kitchen, dining table, sofas. Big doors open straight out onto the garden. There's also a double bedroom on the ground floor. The stairs are fine, normal for a cottage.
The garden is a decent size, mostly lawn, and it goes down to a pond. We've put a picnic bench out there. You'll see rabbits and pheasants about.
You're right on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. There's a walking trail that goes past the gate. Whitby is about two minutes in the car. You can see the abbey from parts of the road.
From Whitby, you can drive along the coast pretty easily. Sandsend is just up the road. Staithes, Runswick Bay, and Robin Hood's Bay are all within half an hour. Good for beaches and walks.
For facilities: there's parking, WiFi, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. We've also put in an electric vehicle charger. Bedding is included. Sorry, no pets.
If you're looking for things to do, the National Trust has a few places nearby like the abbey.
