The Artists Retreat is in Whitby town centre, on Flowergate. It's an apartment in a terraced building. There's a pub, The Fleece, less than five minutes walk away.
The place sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. That means it's well kitted out and comfortable. There are three floors. The stairs are fairly steep, which is normal for these old townhouses.
You're about two minutes from the harbour. The 199 steps up to the abbey are close by. The abbey ruins are run by English Heritage, so if you're a member you can get in. Their site is useful for planning: English Heritage Whitby Abbey.
The moors are right there. You can pick up the Cleveland Way coastal path from town. The old railway path, the Cinder Track, goes out to Robin Hood's Bay. It's good for a walk or a cycle.
Within about half an hour's drive you've got Robin Hood's Bay, Staithes, and Sandsend. They're all nice for a poke around. Goathland is inland on the moors, where they filmed Heartbeat.
Facilities wise: all bedding and towels are included. There's a washing machine, Wi-Fi, and a TV. The kitchen has what you need. No pets, sorry.
For walking information, the North York Moors National Park site is good: North York Moors National Park.
